  • Being Positive In A Negative Economy

    Sunday, November 8th, 2009
    Written By Judith Sherman

    Written By Judith Sherman

Most reports we hear on television right now are negative and about problems with living in our times. It’s negative news on the current government administration, negative news on the state of our economy, negative news on the state of the dollar and it crashing soon, negative news on events going on around the world, and negative news on the war in Iraq and Afghanistan. With all that negativity, how do we find something to be positive about today?

I enjoyed church this week, it inspired me to think more positive about the gloom and doom going on around me, so I thought it would be a good idea to share some of what I learned with you. Take it for what it’s worth to you and apply whatever you feel will help you deal with the negatives in your own life.

The first thing I learned is that how we deal with our circumstances is all about perspective, the way we view events taking place around us. We may choose to live in our own little world and think all is well, we can accept the reality of the world we live in and complain about it, or we can choose to accept things as they are but be positive in our responses to what we see and hear.

The way I see it, we have a choice to be negative or positive about our environment. If we choose to be positive, we may need to change our mindset.  Also, we may need to challenge ourselves to do something that helps us live in the world but not of the world. In other words, we make the choice to be positive. Also, accepting that we are not alone in this world and that there is no need to suffer through it by ourselves gives us a sense of well-being. We have each other, we have our communities on the Internet and at home, and we have a “Father in Heaven”; a being who loves us and will protect us in the safe cocoon that he provides for us.

In this way, we are much like a grove of trees. Trees standing close together catch another when it falls.  Also, trees lean against another until someone comes along to either tether them up to something in order to straighten them or to cut them down.

We can become as a grove of trees. This means we catch each other when someone falls to prevent him or her from toppling over in a life storm or becoming washed away in the torrent.  Also, it means we allow someone to lean on us for awhile until he or she tethers themselves to whatever helps them straighten up and stand again.

As we become more like a grove of trees in a storm, we gather strength from each other. This strengthens us as we fight the challenges we face right now, and helps us weather the brunt of our economic storm. By standing closely with each other, we know we have someone near who understands what we are going through and knows how to help us. This knowledge alone can be very comforting to us.

Think about it, when we put together our resources, our time and talents, our encouragement, and our love, we can accomplish great things that would not normally be accomplished alone.

Our nation is notorious for standing together in a crisis. Remember  9/11, how we came together to help those afflicted by the disaster! It made us stronger as a nation and as a people. For a short time, we forgot about our differences and about politics, we actually came together and supported each other.

I wrote these thoughts after 9/11/2001, regarding the way people responded to the crisis.

You were an inspiration to this country, as you came together from far and wide across this nation; united in purpose and patriotism.

This was shown in the flags you raised and the songs you sang, in the candles you lit, and the prayers you said.

With heads held high and caring arms spread, you hugged each other as tears were shed.

You were a ray of sunshine in the middle of turmoil, and an inspiration when this country was thrust into chaos.

No one did this alone; we did it together! Together we bridged the chasm of grief and despair, and together we face the future.

Although outraged for what happened that day, we must be united in order to be strong.

I saw people come out from all walks of life and all corners of the world to support the people in New York in their time of need. In addition, I saw this nation reach out to other countries in their crisis as well, and many churches contribute food and supplies to people suffering in a disaster.  This is exactly the kind of thing I am talking about; caring for others in our own way and in our own community or online communities.

There are some really hard times in store for us as a nation in the near future. When the dollar crashes, it will cause huge problems for not only America but for other nations  as well.  Our dollar impacts the world and the world impacts us as well.  One of the videos I posted points out that we will be the first to fall victim to over-spending and huge national debt. However, other nations have done the same and will follow the same path as America.  So this is going to be a world-wide problem very shortly. This is why we need to become a grove of trees RIGHT NOW and prepare the best we can to respond appropriately to this type of world crisis.  I suggest you watch some of the videos I have on my vodpod:  Click Here.  Also, you will probably like OhWell-ItsOk.com and FamilyBasics.

We would love to hear from you.  Give us your advice for helping people who are suffering right now from a troubled economy.  This is not just our web site (mine or Terrance’s), it’s yours too. We want you to be part of  our grove of trees.  Please tell us your thoughts, questions, and advice.  Tell us how you handle the economy problems you face and how you have overcome the trials of our times.

Be Part The Solution, Not The Problem

    Sunday, November 8th, 2009
    Written By Judith Sherman

    Written By Judith Sherman

    0fmVX9stT

How do we become part of the solution, in these times, without being part of the problem?

What are we doing to be a problem? I suspect that whining and complaining about the challenges we face are both part of the problem and an irritant, especially when we have nothing to contribute or to help improve the situation. What do you think?

Being part of the problem does not help anyone, it just makes things more difficult to handle. Being overly positive about things will only irritate people around us and make them want to scream, so that isn’t being the solution either.

Writing to our Representatives and telling them how mad we are at them will not make them want to do what we want! Telling them that we appreciate what they do for us and that we will be glad to re-elect them if they start voting the way the majority wants won’t work either. While they may appreciate the compliment, threatening them will not influence them to do a thing for us. What we need to do is tell our representatives how we feel about an issue and why we feel the way we do, and then ask them to consider our views when they vote.

I assure you, I had not been that positive when writing to my representatives in the past, but I have changed. Now I consider the stress of their work and the pressure they are under when voting a specific way. I never considered their positions before, because I want what I want and they aren’t giving it to me. Sound familiar?

We can’t changed anything when all we do is complain and offer no answers or suggestions. Although we may have no idea of how to change things we object to, we can at least tell those in power how we feel and ask them what they can do to resolve our concerns.

Problems don’t go away on their own, they get resolved through negotiations or by default. Do we want the problems we face to be resolved through default because no one objected or gave suggestions? I’m one who believes being proactive is more satisfying than letting life happen to us.

For instance, my son was in a Counsel Meeting when he objected to some money being given away to an organization. He mentioned that the money was not theirs to give and that doing so was an abuse of their responsibilities as a counsel member.

After my son finished explaining how he felt about giving away property worth $450,000, he received a standing ovation for his remarks. The Counsel decided to vote against giving away the property to that organization. When the meeting convened, many people came up and thanked him for saying what he did and said they agreed with him.

One person changed the mind of the entire Counsel by opening his mouth and telling them what he thought, along with giving them a good reason for voting against it. He appropriately used his power of persuasion to influence the right decision in the matter. If he had not spoken up, the Counsel would have made a mistake and abused their position of responsibility in representing the people of their city.

On the other hand, my son could have been silent or he could have been insulting and demanding about his position and no one would have listened to him. In fact, they would have probably escorted him from the meeting. In this way, my son became part of the solution instead of a problem.

Let us all find a better way to communicate our wishes to our representatives and use our power of persuasion to influence a change. Perhaps they will accept our position, and perhaps they won’t. All we can do is try. We may never know what affect we have on someone, but for sure, we will have no affect if we keep our mouth shut.

Our representatives need to know that their constituents are paying attention to them and that we will influence their re-election next term. Then they will pay more heed to meeting the needs of those they know are watching them.

Now, do you see how these same principles can apply to your family and social conflicts? Do you see how to use these techniques to improve your concerns in all aspects of your life? Becoming the solution instead of the problem improves life in so many ways.

I would be interested in hearing your stories and how you succeeded in applying these principles. I sure there must be many stories like my son’s. I hope you will share them with us.

Excerpt taken from AARP Magazine and survival seed bank posting. Please use the links below to read the rest of these articles. You will find other information on these sites to help you with your goals. As you read these articles, keep in mind House Bill 875 and Senate Bill 425 relating to government regulating food growing.

This article appears courtesy of The Victory Garden, as seen on public television.

Not a native Floridian? Well, don’t rule out growing your own lemons and limes just yet! Citrus guru Byron Martin, of Logee’s Greenhouses in Danielson, Connecticut, shares his tips for growing healthy, happy citrus plants indoors

    What to Grow

Although all citrus plants make good container plants, there are a few varieties that fit pot culture better than others. Generally those that grow and flower freely or hold their fruit for extended periods of time give the indoor gardener the greatest rewards. Some varieties that fit this description are lemons, of which the Ponderosa and Meyer are excellent choices. In addition, the Persian lime and the Key lime both perform well in pots. The Calamondin orange has a long history in container culture as it holds its fruit for months and has a compact growth habit. Kumquats, which also hold their fruit well, are most entertaining subjects for containers. <<MORE>>

New Survival Seed Bank Lets You Plant

    A Full Acre Crisis Garden!

New “Survival Seed Bank” Produces Thousands Of Pounds Of Nutrient-Dense Food For Pennies Per Pound… Enough To Feed Friends And Family Forever!

Now you can grow all the survival food you will ever need anywhere in the country with a kit that contains a special seed bank of hard to find, open pollinated… super seeds, grown by small, fiercely independent farmers. Let’s face it. If the stories coming out on the world’s food supply are even half right, we’ve got real problems and they aren’t going to go away quickly. Here are a couple stories that I ran across recently:

    • WorldNet Daily cites strong evidence that some government agencies are stockpiling huge amounts of canned food.
    • Jim Randas, former U.S. Intelligence officer, appeared on ABC telling Americans to start stockpiling food.
    • Grocery store prices are rising faster than any time in U.S. history.
    • Worldwide grain stocks are dropping precipitously as bio-fuels consume inventories… and on and on and on.

You don’t have to be an Old Testament prophet to see what’s going on all around us. A belligerent lower class demanding handouts. <<MORE>>

    Being Happy and Secure

    Thursday, November 5th, 2009

    judy3
    Written by Judith Sherman

That Which Makes Us Happy and Secure!

You will learn more about this topic in the book, The Treasure Box Series, Volume I: Peace, Joy, and Happiness.

The book discusses living a life that has meaning and purpose by understanding the Universal Law of Attraction and Living in Abundance, by taking control of our lives and staying out of chaos, and by protecting democracy and our way of life.

When we collect the type of gems that cannot be washed away in the storms of life, we strengthen our souls and give ourselves something to grasp hold of to not be swept away in the brunt of the storm.

Collecting treasures from good experiences and memories with loved ones, building personal character, having a love of nature and God’s beauty, developing honesty and integrity, and creating lasting relationships with those we can trust, are the type of gems that provide meaning and value in our lives.

How We Create a Life With Purpose

If we want to live a life with more peace, joy and happiness, then we must create it from the inside out. We all possess the ability to reach down inside ourselves to create a more meaningful life when we have a mindset to do so.

We must accept that this type of life is not something anyone can do for us or can give to us. We must do it in our own way and in our own time frame.

The joy we experience from successes in life in this manner will spill over to everything we do and to everyone we meet.  Our eyes will sparkle with excitement and our spirits will glow.  I ask, what can be more satisfying than living a life such as this?

Take Control of Our Lives and Manage It Wisely

Managing our lives prudently is consequential to our happiness and peace of mind.  That’s why The Treasure Box Series also discusses

    • Managing our careers wisely
    • Being a leader in the home
    • Controlling our finances
    • Confronting change
    • Breaking bad habits
    • Knowing where we’re headed
    • Allowing ourselves to enjoy life
    • Letting go of the past and staying in the moment
    • Improving communication skills.

    Protect Democracy and Free Enterprise

How can we live a life with meaning and purpose the way we want to without protecting freedom and our way of life?

Freedom as we know it is a vital part of our happiness and peace of mind. Many of us are concerned about how fragile this freedom is today, especially in America.

In many cases, as a nation, we are heading out of alignment with God and out of compliance with Universal Laws that create the barcodes we need to give us what we really want in life.

Barcodes are created from our thoughts, words, and deeds that go out to the universe. The universe responds back to us according to what is in our codes. Barcodes represent who we really are and what we really want because they represent our true authentic self – based on what we think, say and do.

Many of us fear that we are jeopardizing our ability to protect democracy as we know it today, and that we are also jeopardizing our ability to be at peace and to feel happy and secure about our lifestyle. In addition, we are concerned that, if we continue on the path we are treading, we will lose our ability to be free.

I am sure some of you are concerned about these issues as well. For this reason, The Treasure Box Series is designed to move you enough to change your situation and do something positive about it, either as an individual or as a group. Yet, we must do this without causing more divisiveness and contention than what already exists among us. I hope you will do this and join those of us who want to make our lives become more of what we want to be happy.

I know that the days ahead are challenging and that, although we do all we can to strengthen ourselves and our families, we have much more to do. Let us do it together, and help each other.  That is the purpose of OurDayShopping.com.  Be sure to check out our store to see if we can help you with your goals.

WORK AS A COMMUNITY TO ACCOMPLISH GOALS

    6424_lead_exp_org_2590_meeting_st
Working together makes it easier to accomplish our personal goals. Knowing we are not alone makes us less anxious about our future as well. We need to help those who are less fortunate than us in preparing for the future. In an emergency or a crisis, people will remember how you helped them and will be less likely to do something they would not normally do. This makes your community safer and more functionable in a crisis.

Use the citizens of New York City in the aftermath of  September 11th, 2001 as an example of communities working together in a crisis; this making the reality easier to handle.  We have the power within us to do this when we have a change in mindset.  Everyone has the ability to think outside of themselves to help someone in trouble.

We all have encouragement and hugs to share, and the ability to make our environment more acceptable in a bad situation.  It is up to each individual and as a group to put aside our own comfort to think of others.  If we choose not to do so, it is hard to imagine at this time the results of that choice.

    America To Lose Its Sovereignty

    Monday, November 2nd, 2009
    Written By Judith Sherman

    Written By Judith Sherman

On October 14, Lord Christopher Monckton gave a presentation in St. Paul, MN on the subject of global warming. In this 4-minute excerpt from his speech, he issues a dire warning to all Americans regarding the United Nations Climate Change Treaty that is scheduled to be signed in Copenhagen in December 2009.

A draft of the treaty can be read here:

    http://www.globalclimatescam.com/documents/un-fccc-copenhagen-2009.pdf

Chuck Norris has an article in WorldNetDaily with a good analysis of the treaty:

There has been considerable debate raised about Monckton’s conclusion that the Copenhagen Treaty would cede US sovereignty. His comments appear to be based upon his interpretation of the The Supremacy Clause in the US Constitution (Article VI, paragraph 2). This clause establishes the Constitution, Federal Statutes, and U.S. TREATIES as the supreme law of the land. Concerns have been raised in the past that a particularly ambitious treaty may supersede the US Constitution. In the 1950s, a constitutional amendment, known as the Bricker Amendment, was proposed in response to such fears, but it failed to pass. You can read more about the Bricker Amendment in a 1953 Time Magazine article:

    http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,806676,00.html

Lord Monckton served as a policy adviser to Margaret Thatcher. He has repeatedly challenged Al Gore to a debate to which Gore has refused. Monckton sued to stop Gore’s film “An Inconvenient Truth” from being shown in British schools due to its inaccuracies. The judge found in-favor of Monckton, ordering 9 serious errors in the film to be corrected. Lord Monckton travels internationally in an attempt to educate the public about the myth of global warming.

Anyone who watches the Discovery channels knows the earth is getting warmer because (as other planets are also experiencing in our solar system) it is getting closer to the sun. Closer to the sun a planet gets the more it heats up. In fact, anyone who studies the planet geologically knows that events of the planet getting warmer or colder is nothing new. In man’s stupidity and man’s agenda, politicians are trying to make more out of this than is warranted.

We cannot allow politicians to use our fears as a tool in their political kits to manipulate us into accepting what we would not normally accept in a regular situation.
